Maaya Chander
Hi! My name is Maaya Chander, and I’m a third-year Honours Life Sciences major with a minor in English and Cultural Studies at McMaster University. Growing up in an immigrant family, I witnessed how difficult it can be to access fair, compassionate, and culturally aware healthcare. These early experiences continue to drive my passion for health equity, advocacy, and inclusive communication. At Read the Receipts, my work is rooted in challenging injustice across the health landscape and creating space for positive change. This platform is for those who are ready to question, learn, and speak out for something better.
Preethi Gopyshankar
Hello, my name is Preethi Gopyshankar, and I’m a third-year Honours Political Science student specializing in Global Citizenship at McMaster University. I enjoy challenging news headlines, examining social media trends, and exploring how modern systems impact Gen Z and marginalized groups. As a member of Gen Z, I have seen how my generation has grown up amid systemic inequities, climate change, economic instability, and political unrest which drive my passion for equity, inclusivity and meaningful change. Through my blogs, I hope to challenge unjust systems, uplift marginalized groups, and spark hope for change in a world facing deep uncertainty.
Eleesha Yu
I’m a third-year Honours Political Science student at McMaster University. Growing up as an Asian Canadian, I witnessed how the surge of anti-Asian hate during the pandemic exposed deep-rooted inequities and stereotypes that often go unspoken. Those experiences shaped my passion for equity, inclusivity, and meaningful dialogue. Through my writing, I hope to challenge harmful narratives, amplify underrepresented voices, and encourage empathy in a world that still struggles to understand difference.
